Premiere Pro GPU Acceleration
Back to Home Page

This is all about GPU acceleration in Premiere Pro.  All these PPBM tests were taken on my "experimental" desktop which is powered by an 8-core i7-5960X at 4.5GHz with 64 GB of RAM.  The storage system is a Samsung 950 Pro 512 GB M.2 for OS/Applications and All Premiere project files are on the Samsung 960 Pro M.2 1 TB SSD except the Adobe default location for the "Media Cache" and the "Media Cache Files are on the boot drive.  The Premiere version is 11.0.1

Now remember that the Microsoft timing clock used for the time stamps on files is a 1 second clock and therefore any short term use of this clock is +/- 1 second.

Since this page is all about GPU testing only look at the colored background columns as the GPU has no effect on the Disk I/O test or on the MPEG2-DVD w/o GPU acceleration

GPU testing
From the above I am making a judgement.  I am a little disappointed in the GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti which have that great, new, better GDDR5X memory, well I do not think much of it FOR OUR CUDA processing, I think we are getting to a point of diminishing returns. .  I have not gotten my hands on a GTX 1070 with the standard GDDR5 memory yet to test we will have to see what happens if and when.  Maybe I can also add a few other older cards.
